I’ve always worked in a creative space, so I’ve never had a set uniform (except the time that I worked at Joe’s Crab Shack for two weeks in college and then proceeded to quit, but that hilarious story later…) So naturally, I’ve always been fortunate enough to dress casual at the office. However, I’m always afraid that there is going to be a last minute meeting called and I don’t want to be the girl in sweats and sneaks. We all know that girl.
Anyways, I wanted to create a work appropriate outfit involving my favorite footwear, Converse. Especially in light of the whole “Flatsgate” scandal at the Cannes Film Festival this year where women were turned away from the festival for not being in high heels. Crazy, I know.
I knew I needed to balance out the casualness on bottom with business on the top. I like how unexpected this combo is. The skintight, neoprene body dress is something I would typically reserve for a night out, but not today! Instead of reaching for a basic black blazer, I wanted a jacket that enhanced the cool colors in the dress, so I went with light pink, which is also a big summer color trend. The rest is simple – my carry-all work tote and the sunglasses that I rarely ever take off. If it’s not broke, why fix it 🙂 Shop exact and similar pieces below!
