Thai Travel Diary: Bangkok

BK 1

This look I wore day 2 in Bangkok. I’m wearing a black peasant blouse tucked into a vintage, patchwork skirt. It was so dang hot out, but since we were visiting temples, I had to have my legs and shoulders covered. A flowy skirt is always my go-to in this situation because it breathes.

People always say that my spirit animal is Miss Frizzle from the Magic School Bus, and I think this outfit really exemplifies that. I bought this little brown TOPSHOP bag specifically for Thailand and it came in so handy! I used it all 12 days! But, I’m sad to report that I had to leave these platform espadrilles there because they got so gross walking around the city. Read more about my experience in Bangkok below!  read more

Is there a more beautiful place in the world? I’m starting to think not. Positano, Italy is one of those rare sites that dreams are made of. Funny story – I actually didn’t know we were stopping at Positano on my recent summer trip with my family. I knew we were heading to Naples, Italy, but I didn’t put the time in doing research on each city until I was en route to Roma. Then it dawned on me… oh my gosh, we are going to the Amalfi Coast! read more

Little Red Dress

Bold! Bright! Chic! The little red dress is an overlooked wardrobe essential, in my opinion. Sometimes you want to stand out without the effort… which is where this little beauty comes in. I’ve had this dress for about a year now, and I’ve gotten so much wear out of it!

Sure, an LBD or and LWD is a solid option, but why not try out a little dress in a brilliant red shade? I’ve worn this LRD to everything from Fourth of July to Athens, Greece, as seen here. If I’m being honest, which I always am with you guys, Athens was my least favorite stop of my entire trip. It was cool to see the Acropolis (although it was quite the hike,) but as a city, I felt it lacked identity. One area that I found quite cute was La Plage, which translates to marble. Aptly named because all of the tiny streets are made of gorgeous marble (pictured above.) read more

Greetings From Roma

Roma, how I love thee. This was not my first time in this glorious city, but I fell much more in love with it this time around. We didn’t have to hit all of the touristy spots, so I felt like we really got a chance to explore the local areas like the Travestere and the Testaccio. It was sweltering hot, so my outfit options were limited. For a day of roaming in Rome, I went with my trusty high-waisted, light wash denim skirt by American Apparel. It’s a bit tight at the waist (maybe all the pasta I consumed on the trip,) so I selected a top that was cropped and looser. read more

Mykonos Blue

There isn’t another thing on this planet like the Greek Islands. They are gorgeous beyond compare, have some of the most interesting architecture, and unbeatable sunsets. I have been thinking about traveling to Mykonos and Santorini for such a long time, about 20 years now. The Greek Islands have a government protected color palette of white and blue, so naturally, I wanted to sport my best Mykonos blue.

I have had this Rebecca Taylor dress for a long time, like a really long time. And, I’ve never worn it until now! For those of you who don’t know, I interned at Rebecca Taylor for 4 years in college (hear more about my career path here) so, I got a lot of free Rebecca Taylor clothes. Most of them I have gotten rid of by now, but this dress always felt special to me, so I never tossed it even though I still hadn’t worn it. To give you a time frame, I probably got this dress 9 years ago. read more
