Could there be a more perfect dress for a day spent wandering the garden? I always make it a point to visit the most beautiful parks and gardens in every city I visit, so I decided I should start doing the same thing here at home in Los Angeles. Descano Gardens instantly caught my eye, thanks to the Japanese gardens, rose gardens, and zen-like atmosphere… but nothing prepared me for the grand size of this place!

I wish I had brought reading materials with me, because Descanso is a place you can cozy up in a secret corner and get lost in a great read. But luckily, there was enough flora and fauna to keep me occupied for hours.  read more

Raw Edge Hats and Perpetual June Gloom

June gloom is in full effect,  but I’m not letting it stop me from wearing flirty summer dresses. Blue is the hue of the season, and I’m working it into my wardrobe with this printed powder blue dress.

A Venice beach day calls for an easy dress I can slip on and look polished. Currently (aka always) I’m into styling sweet pieces with items that have a bit more edge, so I added on a tiny string choker and a raw edge straw hat to made the outfit feel less prim and proper. Fact: this little string choker one served as the draw string closer to a fancy shoe bag, but it’s now living a second life as a key piece of jewelry currently in my rotation… after all, I’m all about a simple DIY at the end of the day.  read more

Black and Blue

I don’t care what anyone says – I love navy and black together! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… it’s sooo chic! The flowers are blooming all over LA and the weather is finally starting to warm up, which means it’s time to show some leg and bust out the mini skirts!

My little sister got me this awesome black leather mini skirt from All Saints for Christmas. I think the fit is so flattering, and I like the wrap around belts at the waist! I like the mix of silk and leather – two luxe fabrics that always seem to compliment each other so well.  read more

There isn’t another thing on this planet like the Greek Islands. They are gorgeous beyond compare, have some of the most interesting architecture, and unbeatable sunsets. I have been thinking about traveling to Mykonos and Santorini for such a long time, about 20 years now. The Greek Islands have a government protected color palette of white and blue, so naturally, I wanted to sport my best Mykonos blue.

I have had this Rebecca Taylor dress for a long time, like a really long time. And, I’ve never worn it until now! For those of you who don’t know, I interned at Rebecca Taylor for 4 years in college (hear more about my career path here) so, I got a lot of free Rebecca Taylor clothes. Most of them I have gotten rid of by now, but this dress always felt special to me, so I never tossed it even though I still hadn’t worn it. To give you a time frame, I probably got this dress 9 years ago. read more

Istanbul has always seemed like a far off land to me. Everything about it is foreign: the fashion, the rules, the smells, the views. It’s truly a magical place, a melting pot where European and Arabic cultures collide. We only had two days in this magical city, so we really had to make it count.

This is the outfit I wore on the first day in Istanbul when we did most of the sightseeing, like visiting the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia, Topaki Palace, the Grand Bazaar, and the Spice Market. To visit the mosques and places of worship, women have to be full covered up (including head and hair, not pictured here.) read more
