A sweet mix of polka dots is the best way to kick off summer, no? I’ve always had a penchant for polka dots, especially in the form of silk scarves and skirts. There is something so decidingly sweet and subtle about a polka dot print, and I love mix and matching colors of dots for maximum impact.

Let’s talk about this polka dot scarf for a second. It’s from the inaugural Who What Wear x Target collection, and I loved it so much I bought two, for I feared one day I’d need another. Does anyone else do that besides me? When I find an item I love profusely, I sometimes (always) buy two. It also came in this other beautiful color way that I still regret not purchasing.

Anyway, this polka dot scarf is the perfect piece for mixing with other dotted pieces. Something about the crimson color plays so nicely with others, especially navy. I got this skirt years ago. When the whole blogging space was in its infancy, I was a brand ambassador for LOFT, and they gifted me tons of pieces to wear for Instagram and on my POPSUGAR shows. This is the only piece I have left from that partnership, and I never plan on letting it go. I’ve always been titillated by knife pleats, especially when covering a slim fit midi skirt. Midi skirts are hard for petite girls to wear, but something about this cut and silhouette works for me. I’ve been on a sock kick recently, and added on frilly heart-covered sock stockings underneath my sandals. IDK, I love a granny chic moment and these sock stockings deliver.

Dots on Dots

I hope you all had a lovely weekend full of turkey, family, and holiday shopping! I’m not going to lie, I got some major deals on Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday and I’m so excited for my loved ones to get their gifts! I didn’t post a whole lot over the long weekend because I was busy spending time with my family and friends, but this is an outfit that I wore over the long weekend.

I am quite obsessed with the entire Who What Wear x Target collection. Specifically, this pajama dress. I have it in burgundy and in this dot print, and am seriously considering picking it up in the navy color as well. And, it’s on mark down for just $25! Make sure to shop it now in my shopping gallery below!

I pushed the look a little further by adding on burgundy and white polka dot print scarf, also by Who What Wear x Target line! Recently, I’ve been all about metallic shoes, and these golden slippers from H&M are equal parts fashion and fun. Make sure you check out my gallery below and leave me a comment if you like this look! xx

Garden of Oz

Tucked away off of Beachwood Canyon on a tiny street, Ledgewood Drive, is a beautiful mosaic-filled sanctuary called Garden of Oz. I found this place one night on pinterest and knew I had to shoot it for my blog. My photographer, Elaine Torres, was equally eager to see it, however, once we got there, we were disappointed to find out that you couldn’t take photos inside the garden.

We did take a few photos outside the Garden of Oz, but if you are in LA, you really should see it. It’s only open to the public 2 hours a week, from 10am – 12pm Thursdays. Elaine and I took a break from shooting for a tour of the space and what we saw behind the yellow gates was truly magical. It’s crazy to me that the owner doesn’t allow photographs… it took 20 years to construct! It’s basically a folk art museum for children, with tile-lined nooks and crannies that adults and children alike would be eager to explore.

I’ve been trying to wear items in my closet that I haven’t worn in awhile. My mom gave me a bunch of her clothes awhile back, one of my favorites (besides the vast collection of neck scarves) is this polka dot, denim skirt and I it’s exactly what I would want to wear to a magical garden. I kept it classic on top with an easy white tee and my trusty boater hat (still haven’t gotten the hair did!) but… the party is on the feet today. I just got these black lace-up beauties and I am so excited to share them with you. I think I’m going to do a full post on lace-up shoes because I cannot get enough of them right now!

I hope you guys enjoyed today’s post and if you are in LA or visiting, try and see the Garden of Oz. You will not be disappointed!
