A sweet mix of polka dots is the best way to kick off summer, no? I’ve always had a penchant for polka dots, especially in the form of silk scarves and skirts. There is something so decidingly sweet and subtle about a polka dot print, and I love mix and matching colors of dots for maximum impact.

Let’s talk about this polka dot scarf for a second. It’s from the inaugural Who What Wear x Target collection, and I loved it so much I bought two, for I feared one day I’d need another. Does anyone else do that besides me? When I find an item I love profusely, I sometimes (always) buy two. It also came in this other beautiful color way that I still regret not purchasing.

Anyway, this polka dot scarf is the perfect piece for mixing with other dotted pieces. Something about the crimson color plays so nicely with others, especially navy. I got this skirt years ago. When the whole blogging space was in its infancy, I was a brand ambassador for LOFT, and they gifted me tons of pieces to wear for Instagram and on my POPSUGAR shows. This is the only piece I have left from that partnership, and I never plan on letting it go. I’ve always been titillated by knife pleats, especially when covering a slim fit midi skirt. Midi skirts are hard for petite girls to wear, but something about this cut and silhouette works for me. I’ve been on a sock kick recently, and added on frilly heart-covered sock stockings underneath my sandals. IDK, I love a granny chic moment and these sock stockings deliver.

Cool Accessories

Nothing spices up a black and white outfit quite like some killer accessories. The outfit itself is simple – easy black tee, a graphic midi skirt, moto jacket, and my all time favorite sneakers, Adidas. This skirt piqued my interest because of the graphic, black brush strokes set against a stark white backdrop and the super sexy front slit. All black was an easy out, so I had to add-on some great accessories to make it exciting.

Who knew blue sunglasses could be so chic? I adore the way these look with my red hair, and wanted to keep that color chemistry going with a unique, printed scarf from my mom! You guys know that I am all about neck scarves. I’ve been lucky enough to inherit quite a cool collection, but I highly suggest you guys look at vintage stores to find your own!

Trend: Victorian

I’m a fan of anything with long sleeves and a high neckline. Add a little embroidery and a turtleneck? SOLD. I’ve always equated my style to “nun chic” aka I’m happiest (and most comfortable) in a button up blouse and a good blazer. But sometimes, it’s fun to explore the girlier side of my uniform. So, I swapped the button up for this Victorian cream top and a pleated midi skirt.

The result is utterly chic, and right on-trend! Victorian accents were all over the Spring Summer 2016 runways at Zimmerman, Louis Vuitton, and Gucci. Definitely a trend to keep an eye out for! I actually had this top in my wardrobe and after being at Fashion Week, I was inspired to re-wear it. My most ladylike, strappy kitty heels (with a little pop of leopard) and a red clutch finished off my outfit!
