Holiday Plaid Coat

plaid coat 3

Bundled up for a (final) day of Christmas shopping! It is the last shopping day before Christmas (cue the song, did anyone else sing that in a holiday play growing up?) and I always find myself in the same predicament… 1 day and a bajillion gifts left to buy. You would think, since I basically live on the internet for both work and pleasure, I would burn through my gift list with a single swipe, but for some reason I tend to not like the things I order online for other people. Now, when it comes to myself, I can buy anything anywhere and love all of it. But for some reason, when it comes to my loved ones, I have a hard time shopping for them! read more

I know, I know –– you’ve seen this wall a bajillion times! I think the first time I saw this wall on Instagram was on mega-blogger extraordinaire and, now friend, Aimee Song from Song of Style’s feed. I remember thinking to myself, if I had a blog I would love to shoot there. Honestly, I never thought I would have a blog, but now I do (and I’m having a blast doing it by the way) so I figured, it was time to shoot in front of the instamous Paul Smith wall. Instamous – great word huh? I hope it catches on and doesn’t die a sad death like “fetch.” read more

Peach, Tan, Camel, Oh My!

My camel craze is still in full force, I can’t seem to get enough of this great tone! I’ve always been a monochromatic dresser, you’ve seen me wear blues, whites, and blacks… but never all tans! I love pairing like colors together because it feels fresh and new, especially if the tones are slightly varied, giving the outfit dimension. It’s also a great trick to maximize your wardrobe, especially if you predominately shop certain colors.

Before I get into the outfit, I’d like to first note that I have somewhat of an addictive personality. I get hooked on things and can’t shake them for awhile. For example, I ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (by choice) everyday for 3 years, no exceptions. Looking back, not the most healthy decision, but hey, it’s what I wanted. I do the same thing when it comes to dressing – I wear something once, right now it’s vests and scarves, and then I can’t stop thinking about it and want to wear it everyday. read more

Garden of Oz

Tucked away off of Beachwood Canyon on a tiny street, Ledgewood Drive, is a beautiful mosaic-filled sanctuary called Garden of Oz. I found this place one night on pinterest and knew I had to shoot it for my blog. My photographer, Elaine Torres, was equally eager to see it, however, once we got there, we were disappointed to find out that you couldn’t take photos inside the garden.

We did take a few photos outside the Garden of Oz, but if you are in LA, you really should see it. It’s only open to the public 2 hours a week, from 10am – 12pm Thursdays. Elaine and I took a break from shooting for a tour of the space and what we saw behind the yellow gates was truly magical. It’s crazy to me that the owner doesn’t allow photographs… it took 20 years to construct! It’s basically a folk art museum for children, with tile-lined nooks and crannies that adults and children alike would be eager to explore. read more

Skirt Suit Prep

I always feel like a boss when I wear a skirt suit. This isn’t technically one; however, I think it’s the perfect skirt suit interpretation for summer. It’s been hard to feel polished when it’s 90 degrees and humidity is at an all-time high, so even though I’m not a huge fan of tank tops and sleeveless things, I’ve been giving them a shot.

If you haven’t noticed, I adore vests and I wear them all the time. They add this extra layer that somehow makes the outfit that much better. I started off with my little white skirt and striped button down for this outfit, but I felt like something was missing… when in doubt, throw a vest on it! I recently wore this AYR vest in an earlier post. See, the styling possibilities are endless! read more
