Casual in Kicks

Keeping it very laid back on the blog today! I’m always buying stripes… especially striped shirts, I just can’t get enough! This shirt has teeny tiny blue and white stripes that are so thin, they’re hard to make out unless you’re really up close. If you haven’t noticed already, I can’t get enough of long vests. They are so freaking awesome and make an outfit look more complete. The one I’m wearing here was actually made to be worn as a dress, but I left it unbuttoned and wore it as a vest. It, too, is striped, but instead of blue and white like the top, it’s cream and khaki. I really like subtle print mixing, I think it’s chic and elevated. read more

Paint the Town Orange

I’ve been wanting to wear this full on orange look for awhile, but hadn’t quite found the right occasion. And then it came to me… Elaine Torres, my photographer, and I had been wanting to shoot some outfits at LACMA, and this was the first look that came to mind – it’s bold, quirky, and great for an evening of art and inspiration. I love art – in fact, I’ve written a few posts about my museum visits to Keith Haring and the Annenburg Space for Photography. And I like my outfits to be as eccentric as the exhibits I’m attending, make this orange fringe number the perfect choice! Also, it’s my second foray into the fringe trend, and I clearly have a thing for fringe skirts because I keep gravitating towards them! read more

Obsession: Robe Coats

There is something so sexy about a robe coat or trench coat worn as a dress… I fell in love with this Line and Dot black coat the moment I laid eyes on it. I have worn it so many different ways, some of which I’ve shared on Instagram including; as a jacket over easy separates, with jeans, or even with a simple black slip dress.

Can you tell I’m obsessed? I literally haven’t taken this thing off, and the styling power is proving to withstand the 10+ wears I already have underneath my belt. I’m still not bored! For a new twist, I wore my robe coat as a dress. It’s the fine line where prep gets a little scandalous, and I love it. It cinches in the waist, creates a feminine silhouette, and is so comfortable you feel like you have your bath robe on (oh wait, you basically do!) read more
