How to Wear Beatnik Inspired Fashion

Perhaps it’s because I’m nose deep in Just Kids by Patti Smith, or perhaps it’s my love the ’60s–whatever the case, I’ve been channeling Beatnik inspired fashion as of late. I keep finding myself looking into Jack Kerouac, pinning ’50s and ’60s women with long hair and black leos, and most importantly, channeling their no rules, care-free attitude.

In order to nail a Beatnik-inspired fashion look, you’ve got to start with all black. So, in true Beatnik fashion, the base of this look is all black–including a dress from Reformation, a beret from Amazon, and these OTK boots from Aldo. However, I did make it a bit more exciting with this gorgeous plaid neutral coat from H&M.  read more

Pretty Pink Coats

I’m having a pink moment and I don’t care who knows it! Pink is easily one of the most important colors of the season, which is ironic since it’s usually reserved for warmer months. I have slowly been adding more pink pieces to my wardrobe, including this stunning topper. Personally, I am loving pretty pink coats, like this gorgeous textured one I snagged from H&M! You can shop this exact jacket below right now for $129, worth every penny.

I adore the way pink and red look together, so I made sure to punctuate this look with all red accessories. These shoes are proof that fashion is cyclic–they were one of the first purchases I made with some extra spending cash I had saved while interning at E! a decade ago! I usually don’t keep pieces for that long, but I always felt connected to these strappy ballet flats for some reason. I’m happy I hung on to them! read more

Baby Blues

baby blues 4

Blues the hue! My favorite color took over the runways this year (think: Emilio Pucci, Alexander McQueen, Chloe) so you can expect to see even more blue in my daily attire. I went for head to toe blues for today’s post, and I think I’m in love.

First off, I tried out the cropped flare. I must confess, I was a bit nervous to try out these pants… but once I got them on, I never wanted to take them off! You guys know I have a thing for culottes, so the flared denim crop is a natural extension of that trend.

I adore the way blues and reds look together – maybe that’s why I dyed my hair red (hah.) In fact, the last time I wore this baby blue jacket, I paired it with

My Intentions For 2016 & This School Girl Look

school 5

Throw on a mini skirt and a pair of high boots because… we’ve just completed the first full work week of 2016! I never did a post on my resolutions for this year for several reasons. First, I don’t like to call them resolutions – instead, I prefer to call them intentions. Resolutions implies that you and I have problems we need to fix. Whereas, intentions set a vibe for the year.

Last year – the intentions I set were personal growth and travel. I can honestly say that last year, I fulfilled my intentions more than I could have even imagined. I went to San Francisco several times along with New York and Palm Springs. I visited New Orleans for the first time, which was a real treat for me. I had the chance to explore Santorini, Mykonos, and Athens, Greece; Istanbul and Kusadasi, Turkey; the Amalfi Coast in Italy (Positano, Sorrento, Pompeii;) and Rome and Tuscany, Italy.  read more

All Gray and Stripes

gray 3

Alright, by now you guys know that I have a thing for all gray outfits. I mean take a look at this one (wearing the same coat I might add) and this menswear look. Ok, you get the picture, but I’m serious when I say that all-gray is my all-time favorite color to wear monochrome, and if you haven’t tried it out yet, I highly recommend it asap!

However, the challenge with wearing something like head-to-toe gray often, is making it unique and interesting. For this look, I wanted to play with proportions. I went with a super tight, long sleeve body con dress that hits right above my ankle. I really love this length because I think it’s more flattering then when skirts and dresses hit at the mid-calf. Mid-calf pieces are a surefire way to make my legs look way bigger then they are! Now,  I adore stripes and I wanted to make sure both the stripes on the arms and hem were fully exposed. So, I added on this ginormous gray coat. It’s eye-catching to wear something so tight underneath something so large, and I like how the lighter shade of the coat perfectly plays off of the dress. I kept the stripe theme going with my laid back Adidas and pulled the whole look and color scheme together with a structured, navy bag. read more
