I’ve always had a soft spot for the military trend. I adore the structure and status of a military jacket–clean, tailored lines, shiny gold buttons, and if you’re lucky, a shoulder pad. There’s something so undeniably chic about the military trend, which is why I am so excited to shop spring military jackets right now. Sure, you can wear them with a basic tee and jeans, but I like to get crafty with them. Recently, I styled this vintage military blazer with a lace dress and tights for an irreverent, British vibe. This go around, I made my look more spring with a long, stripe blouse (worn here) over a mini skirt with Chelsea boots. The result is this perfect hybrid of militant, school girl chic with a dash of elegance via sleek accessories. Long shirts with barely there skirts add an unexpected twist to the classic military blazer and pant uniform, don’t you think? I can’t wait to add even more spring military jackets to my wardrobe, which is why I’ve rounded up my favorites for you to shop below! read more

Mixing Black + Brown

suede 3

Sometimes, you just want to say suck it to “rules.” This outfit was inspired by one of those moments, when I saw a post online saying that black and brown were the two colors that should never be worn together.

First off, I disagree.

And second, there are way less appealing color combos… green and red? black and yellow? orange and black? Tons.. I actually quite fancy mixing browns and blacks, especially when there are contrasting textures. I always like the way leather and suede look together… must be something about the soft slick surface of the leather contrasted against the rugged suede. read more

Black Magic

romwe 3

The thing I love about fashion is that you can use clothes to transform into just about anyone. I typically have a repertoire of things I usually wear: blazers, button ups, trousers and neck scarves – but sometimes, it’s fun to dress outside of the box. I’ve always said that I’m a “moody” dresser and I let my attitude, feelings, and spirit dictate my attire. Today, I guess I was feeling like … a vintage magician?

I saw this dress on Romwe’s website – which you can shop right here – and I knew I had to have it! I’m always drawn to anything blue/navy, and I was totally feeling the vintage mauve print. I also love the fit! Bell sleeves are super on-trend with the ’70s and I think the skater skirt silhouette is pretty flattering. read more

My Intentions For 2016 & This School Girl Look

school 5

Throw on a mini skirt and a pair of high boots because… we’ve just completed the first full work week of 2016! I never did a post on my resolutions for this year for several reasons. First, I don’t like to call them resolutions – instead, I prefer to call them intentions. Resolutions implies that you and I have problems we need to fix. Whereas, intentions set a vibe for the year.

Last year – the intentions I set were personal growth and travel. I can honestly say that last year, I fulfilled my intentions more than I could have even imagined. I went to San Francisco several times along with New York and Palm Springs. I visited New Orleans for the first time, which was a real treat for me. I had the chance to explore Santorini, Mykonos, and Athens, Greece; Istanbul and Kusadasi, Turkey; the Amalfi Coast in Italy (Positano, Sorrento, Pompeii;) and Rome and Tuscany, Italy.  read more

Plaid Polish

Why where one piece of plaid when you can wear two? That pretty much sums up my motto when it comes to wearing plaid these days. I used to live in a rotation of plaid button down tops but, I decided to retire the look about a year or so ago. Not gonna lie, I still love a good Rails plaid top moment (primarily, because they are so dang comfortable,) but for the most part I’ve given most of my plaid tops a lengthy vacation.

However… I’m always going to be a fan of a plaid pant. They’re polished, sophisticated, and if they’re neutral, lend themselves well to print mixing. For this look, I went with navy and green plaid pants. I knew I wanted to wear this black and white checked top with it, but needed something to separate the two pieces. So… I layered a trusty white button down underneath – viola! read more
