I can’t believe I just turned 30! I celebrated my 30th birthday on April 2 (go Aries!) with a bohemian backyard bash at home. I have been obsessed with Morocco for as long as I can remember–their patterned rugs, gorgeous mosaic tiling, lanterns, poufs… you name it, I love it. Ironically, it’s one of the few places that I haven’t been in this world. And while I plan on traveling to Morocco in the near future, I wanted to bring the spirit of Moroccan to my house in the form of gorgeous Moroccan party decor.

I was tempted to hire a party planner and rent Moroccan themed decor for the night, but after pricing things out I decided to do the decor myself and buy pieces I could use over and over again. We love entertaining in the backyard, so it made sense to buy practical pieces that will get future use for backyard parties! Below, a full breakdown of all the Moroccan party decor I purchased, along with my birthday outfit and fun thematic surprises we had throughout the night!

I knew I needed a killer rug for this deck. This main red rug was the one piece I didn’t buy for the party–it’s an old rug I borrowed from my dad (fingers crossed he doesn’t ask for it back!) I wanted to bring in pretty blues–my fave color–via pillows and decor rugs. See below on where to shop!

I wanted a beautiful, bohemian long dress for my party! So I went with a long sleeve black number with gold stripes.

The trees in the backyard have grown so full and tall, which is amazing! But it also makes it really hard to get grass to grow. I wanted to cover all the dirt with gorgeous rugs so people could sit and relax.

I also hired a wonderful and mega talented henna artist, Glory of Henna, to do henna tattoos on all of my guests, along with Hookah machines to really get into the Moroccan spirit!

Bohemian Fall Dresses

I’ve been on a brown, boho kick as of late. Perhaps it’s the way warm brown tones compliment my hair…whatever the case may be, I can’t seem to get enough of gorgeous boho dresses. This one is from H&M and it’s only $20! You can shop this exact dress below. I can’t tell you how many compliments I received in this dress. I love the color palette and the pattern rift off of a typical paisley print. I also love the hidden ruffle details and the high neckline, two trends that are very current right now.

I like the idea of wearing a straw hat into fall, because a boater hat really can be worn year round. Funny story with this bag, I have almost given it away probably 10 times. Every season I do a closet sweep and I always *almost* get rid of this vintage brown and black bag, but for some reason I hang onto it. I’m happy I did because I have bene wearing it a ton as of late. I like the unexpected mix of brown and black and the dainty gold chain.

Like what you see? You can shop super similar (and exact!) pieces below! xx

Burnt Orange Boho

orango boho dress with bell sleeves 1

Feeling a little boho today! I recently became obsessed with this burnt orange / brown color… I love the way it compliments my hair! I think I could live in this dress from SheIn all spring. It’s light, floaty and I really adore the bell sleeves, they add a nice little ’70s touch. You should definitely head on over to SheIn to check out this dress and the other great product that they have on their site, because you get 40% off your first order plus free standard shipping!

Typically I’m not a fan of orange and back together, but I made an exception for this outfit and decided to wear my favorite black, lace up ballet flats. Also, I haven’t really taken off my new Sincerely Jules x Lionette lariat necklace, and I felt like this button-front neckline was a nice way to let the necklace have a moment.

All together I like how easy and effortless this look is. I’ve put the exact link to my SheIn dress above, along with a shopping gallery with great product below! Do you like this burnt orange color? Let’s talk about it in the comments! xx

Bohemian Rhapsody

A breezy, long sleeve blouse, comfortable jeans, and a great hat – is there any outfit that feels more like a late Californian summer? As a (almost) California native, I think not.

I’ve lived in southern California – specifically Palos Verdes – since I was 5 years old, and my favorite time of year has always been Indian summer. That time of year where it’s supposed to be fall and the days get shorter, but the sun feels just as hot as it did in early August, and I still have the excuse to head to the beach for a Sunday Funday. So I picked out my most Venice appropriate, billowy blouse and fedora for an afternoon on Abbott Kinney.

I found this bright wall in Venice and it was begging for a photo shoot – the ideal backdrop for my minimal, Westside outfit. I really have been digging all those Reformation lace-up body suits floating around on Instagram, but I really don’t have the best body type for a leotard…they make me feel a bit hippy, so I found the next best option, a loose blouse with lace front details.

The rest of the outfit came together quickly, easy boyfriend jeans, a stacked heel for height that echoes the lace up top, and my most bohemian bag. I actually bought this little nugget for Coachella one year and I haven’t used it since, but I think that’s all going to change now, especially since the ‘70s trend is still strong for fall. Get on the boho bandwagon and shop some of my favorite pieces below!
