How sweet are these cheeky Soludos sneakers? They are from a collaboration where graphic designer Ashkahn designed a capsule collection for the brand, and I actually got to meet him and talk to him about it. You really can’t help but feel good when wearing these sneakers, right? Snag a pair for yourself right here!

Today’s look is all about summer suiting and millennial pink. I’ve always loved a good suit moment, and summer is the perfect time to play with different color and texture. This pink suit by Smythe is a fave of mine, especially because the preppy pink is juxtaposed with navy sporty stripes down the arms. Playing off the stripes,  I went with navy trousers, cuffed up, and a laid-back white button down from UNIQLO. When choosing summer suiting, you need pieces that look effortless and that breathe–there’s no where I wouldn’t go in this outfit.

WHITE SHIRT REDUX

One of the trends I really love for spring and summer is the creative reinvention of the white button down. Or as the fashion set is calling it, the white shirt redux. For quick clarification–redux means “brought back or revival.” Now I’m not saying that white shirts ever really went anywhere, but I predict we’ll be seeing white shirts worn in a variety of new ways and morphed into unique shapes and silhouettes. You guys know by now that button ups are a staple of mine, and I’m always up for a styling challenge… especially if it involves reinventing a classic!

Designers showed button downs redone in a variety of shapes and styles, showing everything from ruffles to slashes! I got creative with one of my simple white shirts by layering it underneath an old halter top of mine. At first, I had it fully buttoned underneath the halter, but then started futzing with it and somehow ended up with this peekaboo effect that I kind of love!

In order to make this look (semi) work appropriate, I went with a mismatched shorts suit and patent loafers. Also, would you believe me if I told you I got this blue striped halter top 10 years ago when I was an intern at Rebecca Taylor?? This is why I have such a hard time getting rid of clothes!

Would you recreate this look? How do you feel about the white shirt redux trend? Let me know in the comments!

I adore menswear. It’s timeless, so chic, and never disappoints. So I thought to myself, why not mix a smoking suit style blazer with something feminine on bottom? And so, this outfit was born. Sleek and tailored on the top, bedazzled and sparkly on the bottom, with a textured slipper for good measure.

I got this skirt years ago from the H&M x Versace collection and TBH have never worn it. I love how I styled it here and definitely plan on repurposing this look for an upcoming holiday party. The flats make it oh-so-comy and laid-back too. Like what you see? Take a browse at my gallery below! xx

My favorite time of year! I adore the holiday season. I just decorated my house with tons of festive holiday decor and it makes me so happy! There are few things I love more than attending, or hosting, a holiday party. While I love getting dressed up for fancy holiday parties, I’ll be honest, most of the events I go to are a bit more laid back. So–what do you wear for a low key festive shindig?

I love mixing textures. I took a nude chiffon top with ruffles, and layered it underneath a slouchy blazer from All Saints. Undone jeans are the trend of the moment, and these jeans have been in major rotation as of late because I love how the cropped silhouette shows off a great loafer, like these velvet flats from Steve Madden! I’ve had my eye on the sold out Gucci’s, so these will have to do for right now. Texture is key to making a look rich and festive. What do you think? You can shop my entire outfit below!

#TravelingPearls

pealrs 9

There’s really nothing quite as classic as a string of gorgeous pearls, #amiright? As Jackie O put it, “pearls are always appropriate.” I took that statement to heart, and challenged myself to style this gorgeous Elizabeth lariat necklace from Windsor Avenue in a less conventional way.

Before I break down the look, I want to tell you guys a little bit about the traveling pearls (you can read the full story here.) Inspired by the concept of the famous “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,” — only way more chic —  Olivia Hollaus, Founder and Creative Director of Windsor Avenue, selected 3 bloggers across the US to wear the same string of pearls. I was lucky enough to be chosen, alongside Holly Boyd from Make Today a Holly Day and Jacyln from Beauty and the Binky

And — one lucky person can WIN these pearls! Here’s what you have to do…

FOLLOW @windsoravenue + all the bloggers participating in the #travelingpearls adventure:

@allisonmcnamara  (me)

As I previously mentioned, I wanted to do something less expected, so I decided to start with a no-fail base – a white tee and jeans. The rest of the outfit came together in seconds… I grabbed the pearls, and an extra special piece of outerwear, like this pearl-encrusted navy blazer!

I always like when dressy and casual things are paired together, so instead of dressing it up further with heels, I went with chucks!

Let me know what YOU think of this mix of dressy + casual in the comments and make sure to check out Windsor Avenue for all of your pearl needs 🙂
