Can I say how much I love where beauty and fashion is going right now? After years of homogenized minimalism, fashion and beauty is finally fun again, thanks to lead designers like Alessandro Michele from Gucci. Personality reigns supreme and summer’s looks are all about play–having fun with your makeup, experimenting with new colors and textures, and feeling inspired by art and nature.
When I saw Hailee Seinfeld wearing lilac purple eyeshadow on the Golden Globes red carpet earlier this year, I knew it was a look I wanted to try. We’ve seen no shortage of colorful eye makeup looks as of late–I’ve even tried out pink and blue myself–so purple seemed like the next obvious hue to play with.
I love being a redhead. I dyed my hair two years ago and haven’t looked back! It’s such a fun hair color to have, but it also requires a lot of maintenance and the right mix of products. Which is why I’m so excited to be teaming up with L’Oreal as an ambassador for their EverPure line of hair care products. Fun fact: the L’Oreal EverPure shampoo and conditioner were the first two products I bought the day I dyed my hair red. I needed to get a sulfate free shampoo that was safe for color-treated hair, and I am so happy that I found such a great, quality product so early in my red hair journey.
THE TRICK TO PULLING OFF PINK EYESHADOW TREND
It’s easier than you think.
If there is one trend you want to try out this year, it’s going to be the pink eyeshadow trend. From pink winter coats, to candy-colored eyes and lips, to pink suiting, bubblegum hues are going to be just about everywhere. The pink eyeshadow trend has been big throughout awards season on Lily Collins, Emma Stone, and Sophia Bush. So I thought, let’s give this pink eyeshadow trend a go!
I dabbled in this trend slowly with a light pale pink lid a few months ago, and decided to go for it this week with pretty pink peepers courtesy of Too Faced’s Sugarpop palette in Bubblegum. I love the rich shade of this shadow and how it pops against my fair skin. For the lips, I adore this opaque pink gloss from Laura Mercier in Petal Pink. It’s moisturizing like a gloss but has the pigment of a lipstick, brilliant. The top I’m wearing is vintage and I figured I’d wear something neutral in this sea of pink 🙂
THE BEST, CHEAP RED LIPSTICKS
If there is one thing that has remained the same in my life over the course of almost two decades, it’s my affinity for red lipstick. There is something about a quick coat of brilliant red lacquer that can transform an entire look and attitude. Above all, red lipstick makes me feel daring and confident, and that is priceless. You know what’s even better? Finding a cheap red lipstick that you love.
Over the years, I have had reds in and out of my life. Some were just quick fixes, others stayed past their welcome (this one red matte lip I used to use I guess wore off really easily and left a red lip liner ring around my mouth, which no one bothered to tell me until I was at the post office one day…) and others have withstood the test of time.
