Bold stripes have popped up on the Spring runways for the past several years — and it’s easy to see why. They’re undeniably cheerful, a bit nautical, and most definitely patriotic, which makes them the perfect warm weather pattern. I’ve been itching to get my hands on a bold stripe piece for awhile, so I was delighted when I saw these high-waisted culottes (which are my new obsession.) Daring? Yes, but definitely worth the risk. I paired them with a fitted, cobalt blue top to balance out the voluminous pants and show off a little shape. Then for the shoes, I originally reached for white two strap heels, but then last minute switched ’em out for these tangerine sandals. What do you think of this look? Let me know!
For starters, this trend is not for the shy! It takes a lot of confidence to pull this off. I like to think that I have a ton of confidence, especially since I am an on-air host by trade and you kind of have to in this profession, but just a few seconds into the application of this basically black lip color, and I too started having doubts.
The vice? Too Faced’s Melted lip color in villain. I find the name of this color so incredibly perfect, and I’d be lying if I didn’t say I kind of felt like the Hamburgler while rocking this shade (a villain who steals burgers is the best kind of villain, after all.)
DIY: Hanging Vases
I recently celebrated my birthday and it was the first party I’ve thrown at my new home! It was a backyard garden party, and it definitely fit the bill. I wanted to create a bohemian ambiance full of good people, great music, and lots of nooks and seating places for my friends to converse.
My favorite touch? These adorable hanging vases I made that hung beautifully from the trees — and they literally only took me 5 minutes to make!
Step 1: Purchase glasses vases and twine
It is a bitter sweet day –– the TV show I have been hosting for the past year and 3 months is sadly coming to an end, POPSUGAR Now on Pop Tv (formerly TV Guide Network.) I have had such a blast co-hosting alongside Shenae Grimes-Beech and Becca Frucht, and of course, getting dolled up and dressed everyday was a perk too.
Hosting, writing and producing a daily entertainment TV show taught me so much about my trade –– I feel more equipped then ever before to go out there fresh and start something new. Of course, I will still be hosting and producing We Spy Style (an online show I actually created and still write every week,) but I’m excited, and very anxious to see what the future holds.
I have to admit, when I first saw this Keepsake the Label two piece, I didn’t want to try it on. Not because I didn’t like it, but frankly, I’m just not really a into lace. Especially the kind that has a nude underlay so it looks like you’re naked underneath. It just feels a bit too bare and unfinished for me.
I now bite my tongue because I fell in love with this crop top and high-waisted culotte combo the second I put it on. The tight, fitted top sucked me in and made my waist look small, which is crucial when wearing oversized, wide-leg, calf-grazing trousers. I’ve been really into the culotte trend so expect to see many more. I also loved how the nude lining almost matched my skin perfectly. Being really pale, I find that most neutral “nude” slips are far too dark and/or yellow and look quite sallow and sad against my pale pinky skin. I thought about wearing the pants with a solid black crop top –– then thought, why not just go for the full set.
