My week of olive continues! I’m really feeling the way it contrasts with my hair these days. First it was the army jacket, then the striped dress, and now this off-the-shoulder beauty. I recently discovered Australian designer Shona Joy and now I’m obsessed. She also designed this gorgeous blue striped dress I wore the other week, which is sadly already sold out, but she has lots of great pieces you should definitely check her out.
You really can’t feel anything short of chic when you’re wearing something off-the-shoulder. As I’m sure you all know, off-the-shoulder and the open shoulder are two huge trends for summer. I’m going to let you in on a little secret… I am not crazy about my shoulders. So, this trend, at first, kind of bummed me out. I love the way it looks on other bloggers in my Instagram feed, but when it came to wearing a piece myself, I always felt self-conscious… that is, until I found Shona Joy dresses! The arms hit at the perfect spot, hiding any problem areas one might have. I also adore the draw string waist, because… what’s not to love?
Because I tend to not show a ton of chest in my daily life, I decided to add on a scarf so I felt a little less naked. The one I’m wearing is not only stylish, it’s for a good cause. It’s by WORN, a socially conscious brand that provides refugee women living in the US with a supplemental source of income. All of their products are hand-made in the US by women who have survived the afflictions of their war-torn homelands. I would love it if you checked out their site – this scarf is only $38 and would make a great gift for yourself or someone you love! Let me know what you think in the comments 🙂 xx
