My Workout Routine

I have been on a mission to get fit. I’ve been pretty athletic my whole life–as a child I was a figure skater and dancer, in high school I was Varsity Cheer Captain, in college I trained and ran the LA Marathon, and in my early 20’s, I was a committed gym rat. The lure of the gym died quickly for me with all of the cool, new exercise classes that popped up around Los Angeles. I started barre classes about five years ago and fell in love. However, I wasn’t seeing the results I wanted. Sure, I’m toned–but I needed something to take me to the next fitness level to help me reach my goals.

Enter: Pilates Platinum. I had been really interested in trying pilates, but honestly, was a little nervous to take my first reformer class. I am competitive and I like being the best, but I was out-of-shape and knew going into it that I definitely wouldn’t be the star student at first. I decided to get over it and take a Pilates Platinum class and I kid you not, I instantly became obsessed.

Sure, I still don’t know the names of the half of the moves we do in class, as I’m still learning, but the teachers are thorough an descriptive and the classes are intimate enough where you feel like you’re almost getting a private class. I have been taking Pilates Platinum classes 3x per week for almost a month, and I am DEFINITELY seeing results. I’d also like to give a shout out to my fave teacher Rebel Ricky who satiates the dancer in me with plenty of weighted tendus and ronde de jambes.

I still have lots of work to do, and I love that each class I see my strength, balance, and core improving. Like I said I do three classes per week, and then do either yoga, barre, or hiking one to two days a week. I can’t wait to share my results! Pilates Platinum has studios in Hollywood (holla!) Venice, Santa Monica, and Brentwood–definitely try a class if you’re close! The intro class is just $10.
