A few years ago, a close friend of mine nicknamed me Miss Frizzle because of my penchant for out-there, grandma-esque prints. I find comfort in things that feel old. I’m not exactly sure why, but I love the idea of something that had a life before me – an item with a story, a history. While it’s not practical for me to wear vintage head-to-toe, I do seek out pieces that have an old-world feel.
This jacket, believe it or not, is from H&M. I pulled it from the H&M showroom a few years ago, and couldn’t bear to part with it. It embodies everything I love in a modern day find: a whacky print and oversized shape. I get asked all the time where this jacket is from… now I’m not sure if they’re Mean Girls-ing me, or really do like it, but because I like to think everybody is nice, I’ll go with the latter.
The first time I wore this jacket, I paired it with an orange maxi dress for a laid-back day at the park. This time, I used it to balance out cropped, flared denim. These Joe’s jeans have quickly become a Spring favorite of mine, and I like wearing them with equally oversized items on top.
I went with a black top and shoes to act almost as a blank canvas behind the coat and denim, but then decided to “break” a fashion rule (lol because there aren’t any rules in fashion) and grabbed this structured, brown vintage purse I picked up a few weeks ago in Santa Barbara.
Eclecticism is huge for this season – would you try out a patterned overcoat like this? There are a few similar options STILL available at H&M, along with some other amazing pieces I selected below.
Let me know what you think! xx
