How I Learned to Love White

My love affair with white has been a VERY long slow brew. If you would have told me 4 years ago that I would be wearing any of the following, I would have slapped you across the face and begged for mercy: white jeans, white shorts, or all white from head-to-toe.

I’m not sure where or when my disdain for the color white started. I think it has to be somewhere around high school? I’d be lying if I said I’m not weight conscious, and I think my innate contempt for white evolved from the ideology that white makes you look bigger. It took me up until maybe last year to get over that notion and give it a try, and I’m so glad I did! The result is undeniably chic. However, I’m still not going to be showing off my ass in skin tight white skinnies… yet. Let’s wait until the results of my newly hired personal trainer kick in. My styling trick when wearing all white is to go with loser fabrics and silhouettes. I don’t care HOW trim you are, tight white could even expose cellulite on Karlie Kloss (ok maybe not, but you get me.)

These trousers are a new favorite, and they’re H&M! I actually pulled them back in the Winter for fashion week, but didn’t get around to wearing them until now. I wanted to mix the high-waisted trousers with an open airy top, so I selected this beautiful holey cream tank by AYR. This has to be one of my favorite brands on the market and I always get so many compliments when I wear this shirt! I love when a see-through bra moment works, and to me this a great example of that. You get the boudoir feel without feeling cheesy or skanky.

This outfit is, quite literally, a canvas for any sort of accessory one desires. I wanted to go a little retro with a dash of Palm Springs, so I dug out these super old, pastel circular frames and my new neoprene palm tree clutch. Like what you see?
