The Only Dress You Should Buy This Summer

There’s something decidedly French about stripes – even when they stray from the typical Parisian colors of red, white and blue… so I always feel tres chic when I slip into them. Also, stripes never cease to make me happy, and I’m all about clothes that make me happy and inspire these days. If you haven’t checked out my #CleanClosetChallenge, read about it now.

I’ve also repeatedly expressed my fervor for shirt dresses here on my blog, which come in all different shapes and styles. So far, I’ve showed you two button-up shirt dresses, but this one by Line and Dot is, quite literally, an oversized tee shirt dress. I can’t think of any item I’d want to live in more this summer, especially since the weather in LA has been ungodly humid – for LA, that is.

This dress is perfect for slipping over a bikini or running errands or brunching or working or just about anything, and it’s incredibly easy to style. I wanted to mix trendier items with my classics. For a nod to this season’s ’70s trend, I wore these awesome mustard suede flatforms. Mustard is slowly becoming my favorite color in the footwear department. Any closer to my hair and I fear a ketchup and mustard vibe :/

And for the classics? This H&M Panama hat that literally refuses to die. It’s been everywhere with me and sat on, squished in overhead plane bins, turned inside out by super fast winds, and still it lives. Not bad for the $10 it set me back. I bought this camel Mulberry Alexa bag when I was in London two years ago, and I kind of regretted it at first. But thanks to the S/S 15 runways I’ve re-fallen in love with the color and am so happy I have an investment piece in this gorgeous hue. Like what you see?
