My love affair with camel continues! And this time around, I’m doing the winter work version. What do you wear to an interview or meeting? Now, just like you guys, I look to websites, pinterest, and other bloggers for fashion inspiration. I had a few big meetings and, I’m going to be honest, dressing for important meetings has never been my strong suit, especially given the fact that I work in such a creative field. So… I decided to do some research, and came across this Refinery 29 article that inspired the look above. I love to get re-inspired by things I already own… and I get even more excited when I can re-style pieces that I thought were on their way out of my closet. Example: this nude dress.
A few years ago, my producer Liza told me this TOPSHOP dress looked super flattering on me on-camera. Being the obsessive compulsive person I am, I went out and got this dress in every color way they made. I believe this dress cost about $80, and I bought 5 or 6 of them, which means I spent a crazy $600 on this dress style!
While they did get a sufficient amount of air time (the pink version even made it into my first big round of professional head shots,) I’m still annoyed that I spent that much money on the same damn dress. I haven’t worn any of them in so long, but after seeing this Refinery article, I gave it another go.
I layered a cream turtleneck underneath the nude dress, and then added on a contrasting camel coat. I like how all the different layers are slightly different in color, adding a little contrast and intrigue to the layers. I kept the color theme going with these cream booties I can’t seem to take off – need I say why?
Wacky, tortoise sunglasses and a bright lip were all I needed to finish off the look. What do you think of this work / meetings outfit? Would you wear it? Shop shop below if so! And don’t forget to chat with me in the comments
